They seem to go up pretty fast once the building starts. The planning stages make take much longer.

I came across an article re: property 535 4th ave (http://goo.gl/2Po6kl) which stated that they’re developing “141 rental apartments at the site, which allows for more than 118,000 buildable square feet and has 200 feet of retail frontage”. **Generally speaking, long does a development of this magnitude usually take to complete?**

i’d say 18 months of construction without and delays. if it’s noise you’re concerned about, all of the outside work can be done in less than 12.

They’ve got to apply for permits, get the permits granted, do the demo, clean the site, then break ground. If they are incredibly efficient and there are no significant delays or financing problems, etc., maybe two years for the thing. If you check the DOB records you can see they’ve filed a demo permit and a new building permit but they haven’t been granted yet.
