The important thing is to deal with the installer; not some anonymous customer (dis)service person who’s probably reciting from a script. BTW, I for got to mention that they did have to run some new c-ax for the modem, but you probably won’t need that since you have a cable modem now. That being said I’d probably not have bothered with having FiOS installed it I’d already had cable. FiOS is undoubtedly better than cable, but not THAT much better. It IS, hands down, better than my previous much higher priced combination of separately billed DirecTV and 4G wireless internet.

Any experience with 2016 Fios installation in a brownstone? Mixed info from Verizon: one call told me box installed on outside of back of house , another said box installed in basement/cellar. Either has to be next to an outlet? Can they use the same TWC coaxial or do they need to run all new lines up through the house? Would love to hear from someone who has it installed.

I had FiOS installed in my house last spring (immediately after it became available on my block). The Verizon installer was very flexible about box placement and gave me a couple of options. Our main box is installed on the outside rear of my house, with another small box (that, I think, contains the low voltage power supply and battery back-up) installed inside, near an outlet. They prefer mounting the boxes in the front of the cellar, near your electrical system’s ground connection, but will have a grounding rod installed in your back yard if you insist, so that the boxes can be placed in the rear.

My block was never wired for cable; they re-used most of my old DirecTv co-ax.
