Fence hight-

Can you say why your entire yard is dug out 4 feet below your surrounding neighbors? You need a finished 6 foot height for legal and safety reasons in the the event of a fire. The firemen need to access quickly and thus a 6 ft. height. If you technically add what would be a 10 foot fence and heaven forbid an emergency breaks out a first responder (who sometimes totes 150 pounds of gear) could injure themselves and I promise you they will let your property burn. Have you considered a concrete hip wall and then installing the fence atop it? At least then in an emergency they would have a ledge to step over onto but if they have ladders then you still may not solve your problem. Good luck.

I live in a semidetached house in bay ridge. My yard is four feet below the shared property line from our neighbors. The three neighbors (and I) all share a chain fence. They park their cars on the shared property line. Its essentially a wide strip for cars- they do not have backyards. My question for the forum is that if I were to build a fence from my property line (my garden) it would only cover two feet from the property line – essentially giving me zero privacy and zero safety from a car rolling down into my yard . I am allowed to buy a 6ft fence from shared property line- which would
Mean a 10ft fence from my side. Right !?!? My lawyer sent me a document that said 6ft fence from the highest share property point….
