Somehow I got through life without having to buy a new bathroom sink faucet — until now. I’ve been looking at brands including Kohler, Delta, Moen and Pfister. The range of prices for what I thought was a fairly basic item is mind numbing. Dear homeowners and plumbers..what brand would you recommend that offers the overall best durability and quality?

Don’t buy the cheap stuff at HD or Lowe’s. You will pay your savings to your plumber many times over. Not sure if this is true for faucets, but some major manufacturers of various products (appliances for sure) manufacture to different, less costly specs for HD and Lowe’s than they do for the rest of the market, in part due to HD and Lowe’s duopsony buying power and price pressure.
Grohe is more $$ but reliable and often a little more stylish. I think the brands Bob mentioned are fine.

Avoid cheap faucets made in China with plastic parts. Look for Made in U.S.A., the heavier the better, with ceramic washers. I don’t have personal experience with the brands you mention because we were looking for circa 1900 style reproductions. (We have been very pleased with Strom/Sign of the Crab bathroom sink faucets in nickel. They were only about $150 each.)

I would only buy from a reputable plumbing supply. All fixtures from lowes and HD are made to break fast. What ever brand kohler, American standard or Grohe, they will sell you the right faucet that lasts for many years.
