Enclosing Area Under Stoop
Following — We’d like to water proof the area under our stoop so that we can use it a storage. Also looking for a gate / door of some kind. No in a LPC district.
I don’t believe the DOB would be involved in something like this.

I’m looking at trying to close and weatherproof the area immediately under my stoop. Right now it’s just got a large metal security door. Anyone have experience with this? Just trying to figure out whether it requires architect, permits, moving drains, etc. etc. Any insight would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks

I too have an open-work iron gate entrance under my stoop. While I have no intention of changing that set-up and, frankly, don’t see the real point of such a change, butI’ve noticed that a few of my neighbors have storm doors, or other solid enclosures. I think that most of those pre-date my neighborhood’s Historic District designation and probably did not need approval. New doors would require LPC approval, but would the DOB be involved?
