this company does a lot of what you are looking for:

www.thetinkerswagon.com

it is my firm and i rebuild doors. i used to just rebuild and make new but have since begun doing on site service and locksmithing. about 50% of the double doors i do get an electric latch. easy enough to do but a lot easier to do if the door is on the bench and the glass is out. but it can be done.

as for the people who say things can’t be done, they are letting their own limitations get in the way of their creativity. its part of the problem with the modern world.

Our website is brownstonedoors.nyc. We only fabricate new doors, but I would be happy to share our knowledge of hardware specific to brownstone doors with you and give you a recommendation for a qualified installer.

An electric strike can be added to any type of door, however sometimes the installation options are not always so graceful. Ideally the electric strike is planned before fabrication, which allows for the wires to be routed through to door, hinge and jamb. When a strike is added after installation, the wires for the strike can be routed through the passive door or surface mounted (or a combination). Sometimes an electrified mortise body is used on the active door if the passive door is not a viable option, or the routing is easier. In any case- there are many many types of electric strikes/electric-magneto locks to accommodate different door constructions and existing conditions.

Greetings, hope all are staying safe and well!
Any advice about installing an electric strike (for intercom) on rowhouse double entry doors? We’ve been told it can’t be done, others say it can. Left door will be fixed (unless opened from inside). Any thoughts appreciated!
