Double hung window balance broken

ok, there used to be a window parts store on Broadway in Astoria but I have not been there in at least 15 years and that man was pretty old the last time I was there.

now, someplace, someone has these parts. do you know who made the windows?

as it turns out, I have the tools to change these as I worked for a contractor a lifetime ago and had to service these. I cannot recall all the brands we used though one was Certain T. the windows in my own house are Super Seal and I have had not trouble servicing them.

would you care to visit my website and shoot me a picture of the balance?

Also, I am performing on site repairs but I am sorry to say mostly around doors (though I did change window sash weights for someone a week ago but he had called me to service the pocket doors which I did with time left over). Having serviced modern windows many years ago (1980’s) I am aware that the problems can be numerous and the parts specific to brands so for a repair visit to be successful, without making a job of it, a contractor would have to have a pretty large inventor y of parts on hand where as when servicing old wood doors and old wood windows, the local hardware store will suffice for parts.

if you wish to shoot me a picture, my website is www.thetinkerswagon.com. you will find my email there. the name of the manufacturer would help.

I have a double hung window with broken balances. The window manufacturer is no longer in business and balances no longer made. Tried Villa window repair without success, and SWISCO (customized balance manufacturer) doesn’t have the right parts.

Any suggestions on how to proceed or other repair options? Thanks!

Have you Googled for spare parts? I’ve found those kinds of things for long-out-of-date products (30 years old & more).
