Does anyone know what ConEdison charges to move the electric meter from outside your house to inside your house?
The meter is currently covering a basement window, but because the house is landmarked, the meter can’t be relocated on the outside of the house. I know that ConEd will relocate your meter free-of-charge as long as it is still outside, but once you move it inside, there is a cost associated with it – they just won’t tell me what it is. It feels like a catch-22: to get a quote to move the meters, my electrician says I need to contact ConEd (since it is outside his scope), but ConEd says in order to schedule a visit to get a quote, I need to contact my electrician.
Has anyone done this before? I am just interested in the approximate costs of moving the meter about 3 feet from outside to inside! All other electrical work has already been scoped by the electrician. Thanks!
