Cost for stair replacement?

I had gotten a $10,000 quote for a single flight of stairs that was pulling away from the wall. They had to go in from underneath (since there were sprinklers embedded — not just a pipe hanging) and reattach. As I recall (I did not end up doing the work) the quote did not include restoring the underneath of the stairs. The quote did not come from Soxco. Consistent with the experience of others, they simply never returned multiple messages.

Anyone replace a flight of standard interior brownstone stairs lately and want to share a cost? I’m talking about replacement of all existing treads and risers and supports. I know there are a few variables but just throw out a number if you have one. Thanks for your help.

I’m getting recent quotes of $7,000-$9000 per flight (about 16 stairs) using red oak for the treads. Doesn’t include the stair railing or individual spindles or fixing the stringer.

Hi slopeliving, are those quotes for fixing an historic staircase or a modern one?

They are brownstone stairs nothing fancy, basic red oak stairs with no ornamental molding.
