ConED Heat pump incentives for 3-family homes

I see coned is offering incentives for installing heat pumps / mini splits and decommissioning fossil fuel heating systems. It was a bit vague if the incentive is for 10K for single family and 3 family homes. Or if its 6K per apartment. In which case a 3-family home would receive 18K. We did it for our 3 family. Got a $9k rebate plus the $2k tax rebate at the end of the year when you file

The program is still the CLEANHEAT Program as they refunded it but always be weary with the fine print of your contract as a lot of clients and contractors got beat during the last round of the program since all the new construction projects took the funds.
My two cents though is that once you get rid of Gas you will never be able to get it back so I would keep it just in case.

Go to coned’s website and see if you qualify. I’d call the installer and ask them to file the rebate. I’m pretty sure the homeowner cannot file for the rebate.

Selfishly I want fossil fuels out of my house when possible. But, hopefully less selfishly, we are also coupling whatever we do with solar, which will be installed in a couple weeks.

I don’t know if this helps, but the contractor we’ve been discussing with (Arnica) said if we did just our owner unit, we’d get $3000; if we did owner + tenant (legal 2 family) we’d get the full $10k. (so we are incentivized to get the whole building off gas). I don’t know if it scales in the same way on a 3-family. The math IS a little funny, but I think I get the logic of it.
