Con Edison Smart Meter question

We got a bill a few weeks after our new meters were installed. They should have taken your old ones, and you’ll get a bill for whatever the usage was on those as well. I assume it’s a digital meter, which means you don’t have to call in readings anymore (or let anyone in!) They are great.

We had our meters upgraded last week. The ConEd installer was not able to answer any of the questions regarding if we need to still give in our readings or what each numbers mean on the new display screen. I tried calling Customer Service and they dont even see that our meters were upgraded. For anyone that has Smart Meters, how long does it take for the system to start working? From what the different ConEd staff I spoke with, it ranges from 1 week to 2 reading cycles.
