Changing (newly applied) grout color darker

I’m wondering if I can change the grout color (on patterned glass tile) darker. It was newly applied – I hate the light color, it changes the entire look of the tile and the area (which is one I was most excited about.)

Also, the installer didn’t use spacers, so you can tell where the sheets of tile are – which will make me nuts. But, if the grout color is darker, I don’t think it’ll be as noticeable.

I move in in a week and I don’t think my contractor will be willing to take on the expense of replacing it all with new.

Can we apply stain? What can be done?

Dark will make spacing more noticeable. Agree w/ others. Don’t stress yourself out. You’ll have more important things to think about soon. And grout stain or sealer will help if it bothers you later.

Google “grout stain” Very simple to darken., or go from light to another color. Piece of cake. Worry about it later.

Depending on the grout, applying certain grout sealers will darken it, for instance light grey to dark. Make sure to get the right one (get advice from tile place) or they can leave a yellow film on tiles.

Removing grout is a lot of labor. There are YouTube videos you can watch with people using Dremel tools to do it but you have very thin delicate tile. More likely they will say your only recourse is to completely demo that and start from scratch :/

remember that this can always be addressed after you move in and your baby is born. I don’t know how you change grout color, but it can’t be all that disruptive.
