Cellar excavation

We’re excavating our townhouse cellar and are having a tough time deciding between two options: 1) dig down between the relieving wall and party wall for a total ceiling height of 6’10”-7’, or 2) underpin the relieving wall and get a ceiling height of 7’4” for the full width of the house. Of course the second option is a lot more expensive, and has other less desirable aspects (eg having to rebuild part of the original brick arches).
The cellar is maybe 36’ long and will have to host mechanicals, laundry and storage, so it’s not like this will ever be some grand entertaining area. But just wondering whether the extra 4-6” of ceiling height is worth it or if it wouldn’t make that big of a difference.
