Hi: I would like to install ceiling lights in two parlor floor rooms. Each room has a beautiful medallion and the light would be hung in the middle of the medallion. Where can I find a light fixture which would fit; I believe they do not make them anymore re: size now is 4 in. and I need 3 in. I am having a plumber inspect the gas pipe which is now sealed to make sure there is no gas Thank you.

It would be easiest to hang whatever fixtures you choose from old-fashioned bell-shaped canopies. Reproductions are made and old parts aren’t hard to find. Gas pipes can support heavy fixtures.

More specifically you’ll Ned a vintage or repro bell shape canopy to cover the gas pipe hanging out of the. Wiling, from which you’ll hang your foxy it RE. My gas pipes all were closed with “gas hickies” with threaded niplples that would hold up light fixtures. I suggest taking those, if you have them, to a GOOD hardware store, like Leopoldi’s, in Park Slope, along with your light fixture, and asking what parts you’ll need. Even if you don’t have the old fittings, I’m sure they’ll know what you need to hang your fixture.
