Brownstone wall cleaning
The front of my four story brownstone house is dirty and needs power washing. Assume scaffold would be required or maybe a truck with a boom. Need recommendation of person or company who can do it or any other way it can be done.

if you have real brownstone left on that wall, i would not recommend power washing it. that stone is layered in striations and is porous and power washing damages that kind of stone.
if you have modern mortar on top of brownstone, i would still be careful. I would read a little about doing this but can state from experience that using a wider stream, such as a fan, will be easier on the mortar. if that mortar has any cracks, i would be worried that a jet of water could get in and under and lift mortar away.
in short, if i were say managing a building, i would read a bit about this and talk to some people and then put the concerns i state above to two or three contractors and see how they respond. then if the contractors do not seem to agree on the risks or if two say one thing (that the risks are great) and one says there are no risks, i would investigate more and consider who out of these contractors might have more or less experience and who might understand risks better.
I have been on projects where stone has been powerwashed and i have used power washers. i can promise you, these considerations are discussed between professionals when these jobs are undertaken.
i was on a project once where we thought about power washing limestone and that idea was quickly shot down by experts. that was cleaned by running a stream of water down the entire face of the building from the top for months, 24/7.
