Brownstone facade renovation referral

I know this has been brought up several times over the years but some people have gone out and some people have gotten old.

Other than Excellent contracting does anyone have a company they can reccomend? We really wanted to go with Roy G but he is getting very old & forgets appointments which concerns me getting the work done in a timely manner, or at all.

Malek has many mixed reviews. Am I missing anyone who does gorgeous work at a reasonable price? I’d like to get the scratch coat done before it gets too cold.

I used Abedin for a project. it wasn’t cheap, but two years later he returned to repair a crack. No charge. I think I’m going to use him again for my own brownstone.

Some of the brownstone facade masons are way overcharging homeowners. We had our 3-story house done 4 years ago for $28,000 — not including the stoop which we had renewed a few years previously. A beautiful job done by Donald Morgan (646-797-1053). I hear people paying prices that make me cringe.

I did mine for about half the going rate – full ground up resurfacing including stairs and everything. The guy speaks very bad english and it was not completely smooth sailing, but in the end they did a great job.

They were a bit expensive (7k more than another contractor in consideration) but when spending close to 100k, I think the added benefit of actual insurance coverage is worth it.

I would second the Excellent Contracting recommendation “landlord”. I just finished working with them and the finished product came out better than most of the “blotchy” brownstone you see being done in brooklyn. My wife and I were very satisfied with the work and service. FYI, be sure to check the actual insurance coverage of different contractors. We used them because their insurance carries a specific coverage which protects homeowners from any injuries/incidents. It’s not just enough to have insurance. We learned the hard way after using a contractor (will not name) initially and getting into huge legal situation.

This is work done by excellent. I am very happy with the work. It did take long to complete. They had to stop work during the winter months and could only continue once temps reached a certain number. The took great pains to ensure the original details were reproduced correctly and have been in constant communication with my tenants in regards to concerns they had. I would have to agree, I am not overly impressed with the finished product by Excellent. They do a ton of volume with well over 30 employees. I would imagine it is tough to keep up the quality control with a team that big. The owner is very profecional and keeps an eye on them.

I’ve not seen entire house by them, but Rahmman Contracting patched our stoop and I’ve seen some perfectly nice stoop redos by them. He’s done several cornices on our block and they look good to me. I found the owner very easy to communicate with via phone and email. He gave me estimates very quickly and offered addresses for work of his I wanted to look at.

I want to find out who is doing a house near me now because it looks bad (is it normal to do it in white and paint it brown??) and one I walk by regularly that Excellent is doing doesn’t look very good to me and they’ve taken forever on it.

Hi Bob, anytime I’ve asked kevin if he was licensed and insured he never answers me, so I am assuming that is a no. I have seen his work and it is quite nice but seems like a major liabality on my part if he is not.
