Basement ceiling and stairwell repair/reno

you need a drywall person. i cannot come up with someone who does just that and small jobs.

Hi,
I live in the garden floor apartment of a brownstone. We have holes in the ceiling of our basement level for pipes, but some holes seem unnecessarily large; we also discovered gaps/holes in the stairwell to the basement. We are worried about critters using these holes to enter our apartment and want to fix/close them. Does anyone have recommendations for a contractor that can fix both issues? If not, recs for someone who could handle either the ceiling or the stairwell would be great.

Some years back a customer wanted me to caulk around a heat pipe running through the drywall in the kitchen. I declined saying it would look like nonsense (i was not doing work in the kitchen, i was doing the doors) . After i left that job, i realized i could have filled it with expandable foam and when that hardened, i could have used a straight razor to cut it off smooth and finished it with joint compound and it probably would have been fine.
