Baseboard alternatives

Does anyone have any suggestions for replacing baseboards without redoing the entire HVAC system? Is that possible?

Myson is a fine less expensive alternative to Runtal. We have seven – a couple tall and narrow and a bunch short and a little wider. They look great and have TRVs, which set the temperature on each, for each room. I spec’d them to run at the lowest temp possible, mostly 120*, while also keeping them small. Got them at Utica Plumbing.

We have Runtal radiators. Some are along the base boards, some are wall mounted. I absolutely love them and they are incredibly efficient. The only bummer is not being able to drape wet coats/winter gear on the wall mounted units to dry out but they really are beautiful. We have furniture in front of some of the baseboards.

Slant Fin has new, more attractive covers – not sure of dimensions but they fit existing setups. Worth looking into.

You can opt for larger (taller) hot water units similar to traditional steam radiators, or a 5 or 6 tier (or even more) Runtal. This would concentrate the heat in one location in the room so the rest is free for furniture: http://bit.ly/2IlM6WV.

Like Master Plumber suggested, check out Runtal radiators. Very chic, very neutral (works with all styles of decor), high end.

Ah – sorry I did not mean to be vague. We are looking for alternatives that don’t eat up so much space, since it’s hard to put furniture against the walls where the units are. Plus, they are just kind of ugly. Is it possible to replace them with some time of radiator or something that doesn’t run the whole length of a room and is maybe more visually appealing?

Your question is very vague. Why don’t you just buy new baseboard heaters, or new enclosures for your existing finned tubes. Another option is to go with a 2-tier Runtal panel The UF-2 is a good BTU-per-foot match for replacing finned-tube baseboard heaters.https://runtalnorthamerica.com/residential_radiators/baseboard_uf.html
