Appliance stores

I need to choose some new appliances soon for our own kitchen/laundry and am interested in some of the newer stuff (e.g. dishwasher drawers). Any advice on stores I should go to for in person viewing besides HD and Lowes?

Concur about PC Richard. Plus they usually will throw in free delivery.

Drimmer’s isn’t a good place to shop at all. There is no real wide selection at the store. But once you know the exact model you want you can call them and they will quote you a price. That price may be a little lower than others but I don’t think it’s enough to warrant buying from them. Plus it can be difficult to reach their sales people for follow up.

AJ Madison has far and away the best selection on the floor of their vast show room. The place is swamped on the one weekend day they are open, which is Sunday. They’re closed Saturdays. It’s best to visit during the week if you can. The sales people can be curt and transactional. Once you sit down with them they expect you to buy because they have very competitive prices.

Lowes and Home Depot are great for browsing and they can often have good discounts/specials. But their sales associates aren’t very knowledgable. At Lowes, they almost ignore you.

PC Richards is my first choice. Local, easy to deal with and quick.

Drimmers will do “open box” on high end stuff where the manufacturer sets fixed pricing – even through it’s not really open box. It’s just their way of beating the competition. Comes out cheaper than anywhere else and free delivery. Call their NJ store or outlet to avoid tax.

I’ve only dealt with AJ Madison once and I have no complaints except I could have got the pieces cheaper elsewhere, but they had everything I needed and could deliver quick.

Lowes and Home Depot delivery guys are sloppy and my experience with them is something always get damaged or delayed. They are both good for discounting or replacing damaged items. I usually take the discount if the damage isn’t bad. If you have a 10% off coupon, this may be your cheapest option depending on the type of appliances you want.

Agree w/ Bob that the AJ Madison website is very helpful even if you don’t order from them

AJ Madison may be fine for online shopping and their website is an excellent resource, but We had a TERRIBLE experience when trying to buy a gas range in person from their showroom. No one would look up from their computer to help us. We walked out after nearly an hour. Drimmers is very good, especially for high-end appliances. Don’t write off Home Depot. It’s a place I normally avoid, but we ended up buying a range from a very knowledgable salesman there who was a friend of our previous go-to salesman at the now-closed EBA.
