We have forced air heating and would like to have the vents cleaned before the season starts. Has anyone used a service recently that they would recommend?

Perhaps I’m wrong, but I thought that duct cleaning services were largely a scam.

I’ve used Cunningham Duct in the past. I’m curious to hear, Bob Marvin, how this could be a scam. I’m sure there are some contractors who wouldn’t do a good job but vents absolutely get dirty, especially if they’re only being used during one season.

How else could you clean those vents? I am not sure how else to do it. We have not cleaned them in 10 years.

All I do is vacuum my floor registers )which some might call vents). I don’t recall ever doing that with the registers on the walls. It was duct cleaning that I referred to as a possible scam.

No duct cleaning is not a scan. The ducts are filthy. You wouldn’t believe what comes out of them. And how much less dust you have on the furniture and are breathing!

We used Sears a bunch of years ago. They came
In a large truck with hoses something like a carpet cleaner. But you don’t have to be compulsive about doing it every season. Once every year or two should do it.

I do not know about furnace ducts but in commercial buildings they have the hvac ducts cleaned often. I think that is the mainstay of Cunningham’s business.
