Our 13-year old Aiphone doorbell/video intercom is malfunctioning and we may have to replace it. What are the quality brands out there for a single apartment video intercom system that has an outside bell/camera, and inside unit with a video screen and two satellite audio only substations? (What we have is Aiphone JB-DV, JB02MD, and 2x JA-2SD, all of which are discontinued, but have similar successor products.)

You can check Comelit. They have modules that can be either video or just audio inside and outside. There was a post a while ago with an installer mentioned.

I posted here a few months ago about being in a similar position (you can search for it), but the short answer is….lots have changed in teh last few years so best to “keep the wires” but junk the boxes in the apartment/basement/front doors etc.

We had Vinny from lock and Tech give us a quote on two different systems and we choose to go with the ABB Welcome video and audio intercom to upgrade our old buggy analog system into the current century

We installed 6 internal stations, 1 outdoor main station with camera with two new door strikes.

The guys did an awesome job and I knew within 20 minutes of being on-site we made the right choice when in the first apartment they used a ‘mini vac’ to suck up the dust as they were drilling the holes for the new station template.

Aiphone is the best hands down for smaller buildings. Comelits have nice design and features but are unreliable, expensive and difficult to program.

After doing a ton of research for this issue, i found that AIphone is the best solution for small multi-tenant units. For single apartment, I would get the Ring — its ridiculously easy. but it does not open the doors.
