Gas or electric dryer? If the former you’ll need a plumber licensed to work on gas lines;; if the latter you’ll also need an electrician to install a 220 V line.

Try to keep it as close to an existing plumbing stack & gas line as possible. Or the costs of running vents etc will be ridiculous just for a washer & dryer.

Recently used Petri for installation of gas dryer. Excellent but pricey. With gas would stay away from unlicensed handyman as gas involved. Potential liability to great if something goes wront not to use licensed plumber. Even though can easily be done by handyman or handy homeowner use lic. plumber to protect yourself and to sleep at night.

Agreed and remember: if you think costs are high for a Licensed Plumber, just wait until you have the work done by someone not licensed and then need a Licensed Plumber to take over….nightmare!

I have oftened wondered what a plumber’s overhead is; the cost of worker’s comp and liability?

There is another post on here where someone asks what people worry about most with contractors; “making sure they do not cheat” is suggested.

If anyone on this board wants to know if a handyman or Home Improvement Contractor is a cheat, ask one of those if they will run a new gas line or add a 220 volt electric line for a dryer. If they are unlicensed to do so and will attempt it themselves without calling a licensed trade, they are cheats. They are cheating the homeowner and they do not give a damn about their own safety and financial security. The fines for unlicensed electric work run $10,000. they are a danger to themselves and the customer and if they kill someone they can end up in jail. If a contractor or handyman would take this risk, there is no telling where else they will cheat.
