Adding code violations
What’s the concern specific concern about the landing…width…depth…something else?
In addition to insurance, if anyone complains about the work to DOB, they could nab you for doing work without a permit, in which case you either have to legalize the work (and pay a fine) or remove the work (and pay a fine).

We are considering adding two doors just inside our front door to our brownstone vestibule area that are against code because of the size of the vestibule. What are the possible legal and financial risks of doing this? This is a newly renovated two family brownstone that is up to code. A lawyer friend suggested that if there is a fire, an insurance company has the right to deny a claim if they can prove there are willful code violations. Thank you in advance for considering my question.
