yes they run 24/7 during the Summer periods of high humidity. Doesn’t really draw much current, it’s a small blower.

Do you have them running 24/7? Also, if you dont mind, can I email you once I start this work? Email me at guikazoid at hotmail dot com

Search “radon fans” “radon blowers” “duct booster fan” in Amazon. The latter will be the cheapest and work just as well. Radon fans are overkill nowadays

In fact the radon fans are overkill. Increased regulatio ( Democrats) have driven up the price on them with more and more protection, unlike the simple one I bought in 2001 and still works great. Get the duct style ones now….. http://www.amazon.com/4-inch-110VAC-80CFM–line-booster/dp/B0002HTFIE/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1367956540&sr=8-15&keywords=radon+fans

The pic I posted was unclear. Within the cellar, the blower would just be open at one end, the end the air is sucked in (there’s an arrow on them showing airflow) and then the other end is piped outside. They come in various diameters but the 8″ is more eficient than the 6″ or 4″. Also, there are HVAC fans in pieces of metal ductwork that can also be used, looking like rigid drier venting and they would work just as well and probably cheaper…all available on Amazon or ebay. On the outside, you just put a drier vent cover over the end to keep rodents out, whether it’s PVC or galvanized duct.

Thanks for the insight. The cellar is completely below ground. There are steps that lead to the basement from my kitchen. We also created steps from the backyard to the cellar, so there is a door. And there is some ventilation but during the winter days when I leave the door closed it feels like a cellar. I want to get some air flowing from the front of the house. Can you provide me some more pics of the setup you have?

Also would you recommend I make a small hole in front of the house to bring in fresh air? If not, what are other ways to bring in fresh air.

How many of these would you require for a cellar thats about 600 s/f and has 8 foot ceilings? Would you also space them throughout the cellar?

Use radon fans. They are round fans that
http://cdn.brownstoner.com/518915e753793-processed-Fan_installed_in_basement.jpg
mount inside 6″ and 8″ diameter PVC pipe. You can attach the wiring to a humidistat if you don’t want to turn it on and off yourself.
