If you like peonies, go to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden plant sale in early May each year. They have peonies and tree peonies. Sometimes the BBG gardners dig out the Garden’s own tree peonie plants, pot them and sell them. They are all individually marked with metal specimen tags. Been adding to my tree peony collection year by year that way. Tree peonies not cheap, but you cannot get better than the BBG’s own (raised) plants. It’s a fund raising event anyways, so paying for top of the line plants is worth it.

Nice pic. Interesting your roses haven’t come out. Mine have been going nuts for at least a week.

Gardening question, eman: I know it’s ok to take a small cluster of iris and peonies from an established stand that has spread, but when is the best time to do it? Someone told me it has to be in early fall. Is that true? Can it be done right after they fade?

Eman!!! Love your garden pictures every year. What a beautiful oasis you have created. You have such a variety in there; you must ahev something blooming for most of the season.

Gorgeous! Peonies are my favorite flowers. I planted Sarah Berhnardt peonies as dormant roots over the winter. I can’t wait for next spring.
