Can I build a water fall in my backyard in brooklyn?

Are there any regulation for building a water fall/wall? Permits? etc

The general rule for water feature is that if it is above ground, or at least as far from the lot line as the depth, you don’t need a permit.  The maximum area is 400sf, which is way beyond what a small waterfall would cover.  Mosquitos don’t need standing water to reproduce. Just a shady undergrowth – so _abandon all hope, ye who enter here._

It’s not a week for mosquitos, more like 24 hours.  I remember single warm February days in Richmond VA where mosquitos would hatch from puddles in the alleys.

Mosquitos won’t be an issue if the water is flowing.  Likely are in your neighbors standing water pond.  Talk him into getting the floating”donuts” that kill the larvae.

Mosquitos were my first concern, but as long as the water is not stagnet for more than a week they do not have time to breed. I was thinking of having a more modern waterfall with a very small pond at the bottom. The water would reycle and always be moving.

Mosquitos aren’t a problem as long as the water is moving.

I don’t know if you can, but are you sure you want to? The mosquito issue in Brooklyn in the summer is horrendous. Adding a water feature can’t help that.
