Has anyone used cork floors?

I’m considering cork floor tile from Globus for my basement.  Can they handle any exposure to water?  Thanks.

The cork on those interlocking cork floors is quite thin and the backing is like paper. Even though the floor gets laid over a heavy mil vapor barrier and what looks like thin packing foam, I think it’s an awful choice for a basement or cellar. I’ve seen photos of some other cork products that are designed to be polyurathaned – maybe that would be different, but I kind of doubt it.

I wouldn’t put cork (or linoleum) in a basement. It will soak up moisture like a sponge and grow mold. I’d stick with tile and cement.

We put a cork floor tiles in our kitchen 7 years ago and things get spilled on it all the time. They still look terrific.

The landlords in my building put cheap cork tile in the other units in my building and then decided it wasn’t the right climate for them so they put a coat of poly on them — not only do they look horrible and scratched up but a couple water spills here and there has caused the tiles to buckle, warp & slip apart.  Overall, a disaster.
