BAMBOO FLOOR RECCOMENDATIONS NEEDED
We are redoing our English basement. We want to put in a bamboo floor as it deals with moisture
fairly well. Any suggestions for a particular brand of flooring with decent quality and value would be appreciated.
Thanks

I don’t doubt totoro’s experience, but we put bamboo into our rental unit in the basement, and both we and the tenant are very happy with it. We find, while it is susceptible to scratches like any wood, it does seem more resistant to denting, and it looks terrific at a lower price than many other hardwood composite floors.
Quality does vary brand to brand, however – we started with some off-label stuff from lowes and returned it because of warping. We ended up with the Home Depot house brand, which was great.

Where did you hear that it handles moisture well? Not exactly scientific but I have a storage area where i have years worth of odds and ends, including several types of flooring. There was a significant flood that I was not aware of for some time. Of all the types of flooring (red and white oak, cherry, bamboo) the bamboo showed the greatest signs of damage…. delaminating into strips. I researched and found that the quality of bamboo flooring ranges wildly. Also claims that it is “harder” than many solid hardwoods has not lived up to what was promised as dropping objects frequently leave dents.
