Expert Needed for Spalling Brick
We recently removed paint from our brick brownstone and are now having spalling and efflorescence on the front. I’d like to consult with a expert on finding a solution before it gets worse. I hope that we do not have to repaint and can get away with coating the brick with a breathable masonry coating or replace the most deteriated bricks. Can anyone give me the name and number of an expert – contractor – architect -engineer- consultant?

Alpha & Omega Construction (Fausto: 917-450-5112) on Bond St in Brooklyn just finished removing paint from the back of my brick brownstone and repointed it. They did an incredible job and I highly recommend them. They also resealed my roof and windows where I was experiencing leaks recently. Call them. They’re responsible, return calls promptly and do great work.

Ron Iles, Building Integrity Associates, 100 West 18th Street, NY, NY 10011 917-697-0580. NAYY. Ron was a mason and this is his “retirement” job. We’ve used him on a few projects to help define a scope for masonry work. Be prepare to tell him the methods and materials used to remove that paint.
