Ditto to Cate’s reply. It also has to be a stronger gage steel wool — ask at the Hardware store — #4 I think. Mice actually gnaw through the finer steel wool. That is the key. Also, for any errant mouse that makes it through your barricades, get a “rat zapper”. Check it out on Amazon. Only caveat for those is that you need to keep the batteries fresh. Mouse goes into a little plastic box for food and gets a quick zap of electricity and curtains. You don’t have to touch the mouse, just pick up the box and dump dead Mickey in the garbage.

We have a few mice in our house. I get that it’s pretty inevitable with these old attached brownstones, but I’d like to try and get rid of them if possible. We’ve been using Advanced Pest Management for over a year and although they’ve been ok I’m wondering if there is another company better suited for us. I’m starting to think they’re a better fit for large buildings and businesses. They come once a month and check the bait stations, maybe plug some small holes with steel wool, but the mice still come back and their stool never shows they’ve been consuming the poison. Like I said, they’ve been ok but since the problem persists, I thought I’d check for rec’s. Thanks!

I’ve been using metropest. They took care of a mouse problem we had last winter. Sounds like we have a new issue this winter but I’m confident that they will deal with it. We have them come for quarterly visits and more often if there is an immediate problem.
