I own a brownstone on a landmarked block in Park Slope. My neighbor is replacing their fire escape with much larger platforms that come to about a foot from our fence, will block some light. The main platform is about level with the top of the fence. The new fire escape is much larger than the one it replaces. The construction is in progress. Do I have any recourse to try to scale their project down or back?

Is what they’re building legal and do they have a permit? If it’s illegal construction, one possible course of action is to call 311. But this can make for difficult relations with the neighbors.
