Recommendation for Solar Panel Installer for Small Buildings

I think I am still allowed to post reviews of contractors on brownstoner, rather than just asking questions, but I wanted to write to review a solar contractor (Fiveboro solar) that we used at our co-op in Prospect Heights to install a solar array on our roof. I own an apartment in the building and am semi involved in the coop board, helping out on different committees as necessary to do research on various improvements. I only post reviews when I’m really happy with contractors, and here I feel compelled to write a good review. The coop has been considering trying to install a solar panel system for a long time. There are big tax benefits and also we wanted to try to reduce our electricity bills for the public areas. We had a hard time finding a solar company to do our building, which is comparatively small. Our building is also landmarked. Our coop board was not entirely sure about whether we should take on the costs of installation and whether it would be worth it. After calling the handful of solar companies in the area, we found Fiveboro. Bret at Fiveboro met with our coop board and walked us through installation, costs and whether it’s worth it, as well as giving us a reasonable quote for the installation, and helping us figure out how to take advantage of tax credits. We decided to do it and it took a couple of months to do the permitting (which they handled) and construction. The crew was very professional when they actually installed the panels on our roof, and it looks really interesting on the roof. It has also reduced our electric bills for the public areas (by about 70-75%), which, we think, over time (we’ve been told 3 or so years), will pay for the cost of the installation and actually save us money after that (should be operational for 30 years or so). If you’re considering a solar panel on your roof, I strongly recommend contacting Fiveboro solar to see if it’s possible for your building!
