Energy Audit and Weather Proofing

One should hire an unbiased professional who does the audit but not the repairs, then have another conduct them.  All too often, I have read plenty of stories which the owners complained about the upsell pressure.  Here in NJ, I have found a lot of building envelope faults in energy-smart/rated homes. We have ten large and drafty windows and two drafty doors leading into our apartment. Last winter, despite turning all of our heaters on full blast, the apartment was freezing once the temperature dropped below freezing. Our building has some facade issues, which may also be contributing to the problem, but for now, we need to do what we can to address our immediate need in weather proofing our windows and doors. Can anyone recommend a vendor to conduct an energy audit and weather proof our condo? I don’t want to get fleeced on unnecessary repairs, but I have a feeling that all the windows need to be re-caulked and I want it done right.

Energy audits from ConEd & National Grid are good – then you can find contractors for the work later.
