What am I responsible to pay for when hiring an electrician?

Hello electricians, I had an a electrician do work on my house. He was hired by us through my general contractor. We agreed in the contract to pay for the lighting fixtures and trims for the high hats. After some back and forth issues about money. All of a sudden my electrician is asking me to buy the breakers arc falt and regular Breakers. Is this something that I need to pay for if we had never discussed this in the beginning ?

Looks like you might be getting ripped off…saw your other post. See what the contract says. You will always want your contract to say ‘furnish & install’ or ‘provide all labor, material, equipment…’. You then specify what material you are providing by simply stating ‘except (list material). Unless you only hired the ‘contractor’ just for labor, how does he differentiate what materials you are to provide?

Yes, breakers are not ‘fixtures’, normally they are included.

We are not talking to the electrician anymore. All it says in contract is do all necessary electrical and electrical fixtures supplied by owner.

if he was hired through your GC you should be paying your GC. And you should be paying what you agreed upon with your GC in the contract and the proposal. You shouldn’t even be talking to the Electrician about this stuff.
