STAY AWAY FROM BREEN ELECTRIC!!

Just wanted to report my miserable experience with Breen Electric.  First, a job they said could be done in a week took almost 3 weeks.  Second, they charged 50% more than Blaze (long story why we went with Breen instead).  Third, they left the place a mess.  Below is a picture of our FINISHED space with newly done floors.  Kevin Breen was demanding payment even while his workers left the place looking like this.  (I also have another photo of our backyard which was also littered with his trash, but Brownstoner only allows one upload per post).

There are many good electricians around, Breen Electric is simply NOT one of them.  Don’t give them your business unless you want to run the risk of delayed work and a damaged home.

Breen Electric just finished installation of some time sensitive and imperative work at our site (Rockaway Artists Alliance). Work was completed by deadline, with many options presented, in a very professional manner. Respect was shown to our space and the overall goal of installing a system that was cost effective, would suit our needs and increase the facility’s sustainability was achieved. Two thumbs up.

Ill chime in as I had a different experience with Breen Electric.  I just received DOB approval for work performed by Breen electric.  I was renovating my basement (doing most of the work myself) and had Breen Electric upgrade me to 200 amps and move my meter across the basement.  This job required digging a trench an also working with previously completed unprofessional electric work done by prior home owner.  I was extremely pleased with the professionalism of the completed work for exaple every circut was properly labeled (which was difficult giving the way circuits were routed over the years) The workmen were great, as they tolerating my asking alot of questions both about the job, and wiring in general.

Loose my number!  You are a liar, two of your contractors who performed work were not licensed!  Condo or not it’s illegal in NYC.  I guess my competitors motivated by ego would have something neagative to say ….its quite alright!  get a life….

Kevin, you ayou simply lie.  First, the building is a condo.  Second, all the people I hired were licensed (to the extent they needed to be and to the extent the condo required them to be).  Third, two other companies I called had only heard negative things about you. Fourth, I repeatedly had to email and call you to get you to do the work.  The delays were all on your end.  Fifth, the picture is not embellished and you, in fact, forced one of your workers to apologize to us for the mess you made.  Quite frankly, I don’t know how you have any respect for work you do.  We have had a number of people work on our place and all of them were professional, courteous and did great work.  Your business was the sole exception.  If I did my work they way you do yours, I would have been unemployed years ago.  God knows how you stay in business.

Rob Cohen signed our proposal and paid us a deposit to relocate an electrical panel into a closet and install HVAC wiring.  He hired us because we were doing a complete duplex apartment renovation just next to Mr. Cohen’s unit.  While we were on site each day just next door, Mr. Cohen would not show up to let us in and prevented us from working.  Excuses like, “my flooring guy would be inconvienced due to your required power outage”.  He constantly delayed us, as he was living in NYC and didn’t cooperate at all!
  The picture Mr. Cohen shows is quite embellished.  It should be noted, we were the only licensed contractors he hired, what would the coop board say about that?  Mr. Cohen was quite disturbed when I questioned his directive to my electrician to do work beyond the scope we agreed as I asked for payment for that work.  Mr. Cohen’s anger is rooted in the two, 3 inch scratches in his floor. As an offset to the damage he said we made, and for the additional work he underhandedly ordered, I gave him back an additional $100 to repair his floor!  Mr. Cohen feels empowered by bashing us on brownstoner!  Mr. Cohen shame on you, get a life!

Just an FYI:  I am not schilling for Blaze.  They have done some very minor work for us, and they were fine.

I did not pay Breen upfront.  We negotiated a bit.  I should have asked for a bigger reduction, but I just wanted him out of my hair.  I was also concerned enough with his practices, that I changed the locks on my apartment.

Did you pay Breen in full? I don’t think Blaze has gotten too many plaudits ion this web site.
