Looking for electrician: One floor rewiring + New Riser
We’re looking for an electrician for a complete rewire of an 1100 square foot floor-through walkup. The existing wiring is often frayed and poorly thought out. We also need an upgrade to the supply, which is currently a paltry 40A. This should be made a bit easier because the building has approved a new supply up the dumbwaiter shaft. One quote we’ve gotten was $14,000 for the rewiring plus $4,000 for the riser. Another was $10,000 for the rewiring and we haven’t gotten a quote for the riser yet. Both strike me as on the high end considering we’re in the midst of demolition and there is free access to many walls, ceilings and floors at the moment. We’re very hands-on and can direct the other work to make the process easier. We also already have drawn up a diagram of what we need. Any suggestions for electricians who would be more willing to coordinate with us to make the work more efficient (and less expensive!)

we got a quote from a place called Medco in 2009 for a four story building I think it was $10,000 ish… but we didn’t do the work so I can’t really say. They’d been recommended by a friend in the neighborhood who owns a couple of buildings.

$10,00 for an 1,100 sf apartment is very reasonable.
