Fuse Box
I’m thinking about buying a 650 sf 1BR co-op apt built in the 50s which has a fuse box instead of circuit breakers. I plan to gut renovate the kitchen and bath. The building mandates that the electric has to be upgraded if you renovate. My question is whether I just need to replace the fuse box to a circuit breaker panel, or will this require more extensive re-wiring? The kitchen already has a D/W, and both the living room and bedroom have ACs. So, I assume there is already sufficient power to support modern appliances. What is the cost estimates for just replacing the box vs. more extensive re-wiring (including repairing damaged walls)? Thanks!
