Insulate exterior wall?

We have a brownstone that is the last of the row, and only shares a partial in length ground floor garage wall on one side. We would love to expose brick on that whole side of the house, and someone mentioned adding some sort of insulation to the exterior. Has anyone ever done done this? Any thoughts? Any ideas of costs?

I had never though about stucco. Does that provide insulation? The concern was exposing brick, and then having issues with heat/cold air coming through the walls. Any stucco contractor recommendations? If we did frame it out and add siding and insulation, any ideas of cost? I am assuming I would have to get permission from the neighbor as this would go into their space (obviously during construction, but even after) right?

I have a 4″ EIFS stucco in the back, exposes brick inside and it works and looks great. You should do it with an experienced person using proper materials (all STO brand) because a bad job will lead to rot and other problems. The price is estimated 2-4000 per floor depending if you have many windows or none.

I don’t know how you’d add insulation to the outside w/o having to put up siding. Exposed brick would invite the cold in.
