Being a new Brooklynite I wanted to ask around to see where to get the best Christmas trees. I haven’t seen a lot for sale on the street as you do in the city. I’ve previously picked them up at Home Depot. Any other places I should be looking?

Home Depot is still the best.  I just got an 8-foot tree for $30-something dollars.  The sidewalks around my neighborhood wouldn’t have let that go for less than $80.

Last year there was a great place in Stuyvesant Heights on Decatur and Stuyvesant in the carriage house behind the mansion on the corner which I think is a school now. Its worth stopping by if you have time. I assume that she’s there this year too but have not checked. Decent seleciton of trees, garlands, etc. Plus you get to avoid the living hell of Home Depot and spend your cash with a local businss.

I like Natty Garden but my first choice is always the Grand Army Plaza farmers’ market. The folks at the stand near PPW and Union St bring in fresh trees very Saturday. It’s how recently the trees were cut that will determine how long they last in your home and how fragrant they are.
