Change in C of O to replace roof deck?

Unless there is something inherently different about condo C of Os, the C of O only dictates how many units there are within a building, nothing about what may or may not be on the building in the for of decks, extensions, etc.

Our condo building is looking into replacing a common roof deck and one of our contractors is saying that we may have to change to building’s C of O in order to get the permits.  There used to be a deck and we had to take it up to make repairs to the roof, and it is in the offering plan….but I don’t believe it is on the C of O??? we really aren’t ADDING a new deck as much as we are REPLACING an old one….

anyone know about this?
