You may want to consider polished concrete flooring for your basement. To view what options are available for you, please follow the link – http://www.duraamen.com/photo-gallery/

My basement is currently under 3″ of water and the English Basement carpeting is soaked. Any recommendations for a company that can remove the water, extract the water from the carpet, dehumidify the space? I know these exist. Thanks!

Look up “disaster recovery” in the yellow pages (or whatever they’re called now). There’s one, I think it’s Serv-Pro, that seems like a franchise– they advertise nationally–so that might be worth a call just to see what they charge. They have big wet vacs and giant dehumidifiers. Also, check out this link: http://www.floodsafety.com/national/property/cleanup/ It’s for way worse situations, but there are useful tips. Take photos of everything at its worst because you will need them if you submit a claim to your insurance company. Ventilate as much as possible to avoid mold. Good luck.
