DOB Inspection

Yeah, I’ll second that, my neighbor kept calling on me. I just let them in each time. After the third visit, they put on the record not to respond as the work being done did not requrie a permit. If you are doing work without a permit, just pull one. The person is not going to stop and nor with DOB. It is much cheaper to go the legal route in the long run.

If there are any violations found during DOB Audit Inspection (After construction), will inspector notify right away or i will have to wait for DOB database to be updated?

Thanks!

They may respond immediately if the person calling insists the work is extremely hazardous.  The inspectors arrive with every intention to assist the caller and assess fines.  However, when I have let them in and allowed them to survey the work (my permits and blueprints), I have found them to be great allies as soon as they realize they are being respected and cooperated with.  They easily fatigue of callers who are complaining without ground.  Repeated complaints may make their way up to a supervisor who in turn may want to assess first-hand what if any issues there are.  I don’t know legally that they are allowed to ignore a complaint, but the visits tend to taper off when they find the project in compliance.
