Distance between electric outlets
Anyone know what meets code for the maximum distance between electric outlets? It looks like our electritian is spacing them every 6 feet. It seems excessive.

I’ve never heard anyone complain that they have too many electrical outlets.

those are the minimum requirements. agree, more and thoughtful placement beyond code is important.

I cannot answer the code question, but I have to say, I like more. You never know how you might rearrange furniture in the future. I also say the same about tv and internet cable. If the walls are open on a big job, the time and materials shouldn’t be that much more money.

Could be the electrician is misinterpreting the code. There’s not supposed to be a point more than 6 feet from an outlet, but that actually means 12 feet on center, except in the kitchen, where they’re supposed to be closer.
