Is New York out of brownstone?

No, we typically use a mix of cement and brownstone sand when restoring facades.  It’s what’s required by Landmarks, and holds up better than the real stuff anyway.  I just thought it was an interesting read as kind of an end of an era piece.

I read it is just the last NY brownstone quarry that is closing but that there are others.  Also, most facade restoration companies no longer use pure brownstone anyway due to it’s flimsy constitution so no worries.
