How can I keep old door knobs with worn out metal spindles?

old hardware stores or locksmiths and key places.  Garveys on Nostrand Ave, Eddie on Grand and Greene, moon river chattel. etc. etc.

I am looking for a way to keep our old  glass door knows with metal spindles.  However the spindles have worn out and all  hardware stores I’ve tried can’t replace them.  Is there a specialty store for old door spindles or a person who specializes in them?   Thank you,  Muriel
