Need New Boiler ?
I currently have a Weil Mclain Gas Hot water boiler 140k btu, with 30 gal indrect hot water tank. There is a little water dripping on the flame, a national grid service person told me that we have a leak in the boiler. He suggests that we need a new boiler. Any sugettions on course of action, including recomendation for plumber to install new boiler and cost range.

your boiler might condense if not set up properly. have somebody to check settings on dual aquastat, especially low limit.

the cold water feed is thru that RED regulator into the boiler..set at 12 psi with the adjusting nut on top industry standard setting ..when it heats(expansion)up it might be dripping but at 12 psi you should see tons of water in the burner section…NG loves to spend peoples money..if it ends up being a change out approach them they have programs to install and pay $$$ it off thru a 12 month payment on the gas bill never feel it…

A 30-gallon indirect water heater is teeny weeny. Make sure you’ve got the BTUs in the new boiler to make hot water quickly, but not so many as to make the boiler short cycle. Just sayin’.

if it is just a slight drip buy a container of a stop leak product rated for hydronic systems (e.g. hydroseal plus four) available at any plumbing supply.pour it into the boilerthrough any available opening 9usually you can rig something up via the pressure relief valve takeoff), and let it cycle a few times…if you want a free onsite consultation, my contact info is in my profile.
