My kitchen was recently gutted and changed.  I’ve selected the appliances (oven, cooktop, dishwasher) and had cabinets and counters & electrical service built to accomodate them.  Instead of waiting to win the lottery, maybe there’s a good time to buy appliances when there would be a meaningful discount/free delivery/etc.  When should I check out lower prices? Right after Christmas, maybe, or other times?   Thanks for any advice you can give on timing these purchases!

You can play those games at PC Richards but even on sale you will overpay.  Go see Appliance Center on 37th and ask them for a total price for everything.  Then ask for the cash price.  Plus they don’t charge for delivery.  They have some awful reviews online but if your alternative is the lottery they are your best option.

you just missed one of the best times of the year to buy appliances – black friday.  I just bought 3 LG kitchens (fridge, stove DW) plus a washer & dryer set for myself, everything with 4yr service plans, for 7k, after taxes.  Went to Home depot, got the specials, asked (nicely) if they could work with me on the service plans (they did without hesitation) – also got 400 in discounts based on the number of appliances i bought, and held a home depot 10% mover’s discount coupon.  I won’t claim these were the best things on the floor – but all nice quality, SS finishes, and for the fridges – 18+ cu/ft,  for the ranges, all flat glass top, not coil.  the stackable washer and dryer were the best though – got the floor model (they’ll still give it the 4 yr in-home/ or replace service plan) so it ws the BF price, + 1/3 off for being the floor model.  Keep in mind, i’ve been shopping for months (in the middle of renovations on a rental proerty so the kitchens are coming very soon) and went to several places on black friday before trying home depot (pc richard couldn’t meet the prices, and had more expensive service plans BEFORE negitiating…  mainly i didn’t like the salesperson’s pushy approach.  Hit several local appliance centers, even AJ madison – NO one could hit the prices i was getting from home depot.  HD is hit or miss – often times i will shop elsewhere, but AJ madison was the next closest, and was still going to cost me over 1k more for the same stuff.. plus the risk of having to deal with aj madison (never shop there, btw. lol) My advice – wait until just before christmas, if you’re going to a chain store…. and just before the new year if going with a local place.

**edit – and by not the highest end stuff – i don’t mean it was crap.  Just all solid mid-level items that most people would be shopping for for themselves – not the bargain bin fall apart 300.00 fridges.  The ones i chose all retailed for 1200+ ( i know  – who pays retail? – but it’s just for reference) and 1 of the stoves was a slightkly higher end double stove, for the higher rent apartment.

What goatcrapp said. They were practically giving away large scale appliances on Black Friday. 50% plus off at Best Buy. Also, very deep discounts on the internet for Cyber Monday.

Thanks for your post. Appliances are generally purchased and delivered after the cabinets and floors are done. As long as an item is in stock I can deliver it the very next day. Limestone_cow:  Thanks for the suggestion of the Appliance Center.  It’s not very convenient for me (Clinton Hill-Wallabout) but I may end up there if I can’t find them elsewhere. Goatcrapp:  congrats on the new appliances!  I’m getting mid-range as well but they aren’t carried by Home Depot, Best buy, or pc richards.  ajmadison carries them, though.
