We’re in the midst of a kitchen reno project and are in the merket for a range hood (vented) and new dishwasher. If anyone has experiences either good or bad with either I’d be most apreciative of your input. Looking at a 30″ wall-mounted vented range hood. Dishwashers I’m open to anything. I liked the Fisher/Paykel drawer units but it seems the reviews on them aren’t so overwhelmingly positive. I know Bosch diswashers are said to be among the best, but the few people I know who own them seem to have had great difficulty with them. Whaddaya got for me, people?

No problems with my Bosch DW. Hardly know it’s running until it beeps that it’s finished. I would byt a hood by the look I want.

Had KitchenAid once, hated it. Too loud, didn’t distribute powdered soap well. Just left a lump of soap sludge near the soap door. Good friend had ASKO, hated it, broke twice. Have had Bosch twice in the past, no problems, very quiet. Have Miele now, like it better because of separate silverware level, and more programs on the model I have.  Its also actually slightly quieter than Bosch  though hardly perceptable. I have a 30″ DCS hood with heat lamp for warming (wall shelf additional) that is really powerful, love it. Necessary only if you’re planning on a professional grade range.

When selecting a rangehood, make sure it can cover the depth of the oven. This was something I never considered. I have a 42″ Cavaliere AP238-PSD over a 36″ oven that has a 26-1/4″ depth and it doesn’t do a great job when cooking with the front burners. I don’t know what type of cooking you do, but if you’re big on grilling and frying on the burner, I’d recommend getting one with at least 900 cfm. The one I have is 860cfm. http://www.ventingdirect.com offers a good selection of range hoods that might help you narrow down your choices. I’m using a Bosch SHE4AP05UC dishwasher which I don’t recommend because plastic containers and pots still retain water drops after the dry cycle has completed. I do like that it does NSF certified wash. When selecting a dishwasher, I would recommend one with a NSF certified wash cycle, a very good dry cycle and a built in garbage disposer. http://www.dishwasher-ratings.com/ might help in narrowing down your choices.
