Dishwasher in Prewar buildings

your building pipes are really old and/or every one is afraid that your dishwasher will be hooked up incorrectly and you will flood the apartment and the apartment below.

Hi, I live in a prewar building and our house rules don’t allow dishwashers, does anyone have experience with making a case for requesting a change? Also what could be the reasons to prohibit dishwashers? Thanks, Sam
