I’m renovating a small kitchen and just realized that I would really prefer a counter-depth range (because the range is just 12 inches away from a corner). Some choices I considered: – Electrolux 30in (depth just under 27″) – Bertazzoni 30in (depth 25″) The problem with Bertazzoni is that ConsumerReports gave it low ratings, and also I’m not quite sure if it is a convection oven or not. The electrical outlet does not have enough power for a dual fuel range according to my contractor. Attaching a photo of the two ranges side by side.

No question the Bertazzoni looks better. I don’t know anyone that has one so I can’t say about function.

I have the Bertazzoni 24″ and am generally pleased with it.  I have read some of the critiques of the burners but I think they are quite good – especially the front/left simmer burner that has two rings of flame which can be controlled separately.  My biggest complaint is the oven itself – very small on the inside – so you might really take a tape-measure to your two choices.  Also, you should know there is a fan that runs whenever the oven is on even when the convection feature is off.  I can’t speak to the Electrolux but the Bertazzoni is a looker.

The Bertazzonis are great looking, no question. I was very close to getting one, but ultimately the oven size was a problem for me–I thought even getting in a large turkey would be iffy. A friend who only cooks for two has it, though, and she’s happy.

The Bertazzonis are great looking, I agree. We almost bought one as well. But we decided to go with Blue Star, http://www.bluestarcooking.com/ It has been great, best gas range I have ever used, and for those who care, it is made in the USA. We went with a 30 inch. and used a KOBE hood from japan.

We have installed many Bertazzonis and Blue Star ranges. None of our clients have had problems with either brand. Don’t read too much into Consumer Reports. Keep in mind that what cipster said about the fan. It is true is true that lmost all ranges today have a cooling fan that runs constantly to keep the electronics cool. Some fans are louder than others and can be an annoyance to some. That I know of, only Wolf ranges give you the option to turn this fan on or off via a switch on the range.

Very happy with the Electrolux.  Really like the computer.  I can have two timers running at once and simultaneously set a stop time to the gas oven.  Only complaint is the electric bottom drawer.  It is only good for keeping things warm even though it supposedly can do full heat baking.  The gas oven does everything well – regular, convection, broiler, etc. and heats up quickly.

I have the Electrolux as well- have had it for close to four years now I guess (!) and it’s performed flawlessly. Granted the Bertazzoni’s a better looking appliance, but the Electrolux is a very versatile range and has yet to let me down in any way. I do a lot of baking and it’s a great choice for that- even has a bread proofing setting. Heats up to 550 which, with a baking stone, makes a decent pizza making oven too. That said, I’m sure that the motherboard is gonna fry one day and cost close to the purchase price to replace. I like the lower-tech options like the Bertazzoni from that standpoint.

These both look nice. We had a Viking DCCG 30″ in our last place. I never liked Viking ranges at all until I saw this model. Continuous grate on top, which is a nice feature. The depth is 26.5″. It’s worth checking out, with a convection oven and one super-low burner. Good luck!

We bought the Bertazzoni 30″ range and installed it about 3 months ago. Love it. We paid extra for the “thermometer”. Save your $500\. It reads low medium and hot. No actual temperatures. $500 for a waffle iron style gauge. Other than that we are happy with it.
